Akeley, Bucks, 49 metres overgrown hawthorn farm hedge. With the field beyond also owned by the client, he wanted the view over the top of the hedge. The hedge had been laid many years ago. There were plenty of spare live stems to use as live stakes to keep this unruly hedge in place.

A lot of this hedge was very rough, but here is some straight tall regrowth from last time it was laid. That curved live stake in the centre of the image and the further pair of live stems are key to securing these stems once laid...
 

...most of the stems go behind the curved stake and between the other two stakes, so everything is nice and tight!
 

The vigorous regrowth from this old laid stem was trimmed to lighten the weight as it was leaning the wrong way and carefully laid back up the slope
 

What a tangle, but whatever gets laid here is going to be secured by the two live stakes in the foreground
